My Thoughts
Definitely my thoughts line up perfectly with the analysis. There were certainly a few things I thought were lacking from the novel, but nothing that detracted from it's overall content and entertainment-factor.
First, I found the plot somewhat predictable, but it was really the journey that made this book worth the read. Second, I thought that the love was a little too instance, even considering the situation. Third, I would have liked to see some more references to horror movies that we know and love in the real world - there were a few, but I feel like the book doesn't pay homage to its movie counterparts as much as it tried to.
However, I liked the fact, probably the part that I loved the most about this novel, is that I got to focus on characters more than I would if I saw a movie. I got to know them. I remembered their faces and their names. This doesn't happen, really, when I'm watching movies. The book played on tropes and archetypes but the characters weren't "cookie-cutter". They had their own, separate personalities and hopes so that I found most of them easy to love.
Final Conclusion - 4 stars
